Recent Paintings

My recent paintings, draw on the underlying chaos, control and processes of the natural world and hold two ways of experiencing time.

The Murrays Run series sits in the near instantaneous, the flicker of light in my local landscape, the glance up, the movement of vegetation driven by a breeze, the time of day or a time period during the day.

The Conflagrant series accesses a different time scale; the slow process of structures building, a forest grown, the chaotic change and release of energy in fire and the return to ’slow’ processes in it’s aftermath.

With Perception, my concern is with that single moment, that instant when something - a shape, a form - starts to be understood, to be differentiated.
